There are basically two types of running lights: glow lights or headlights in the form of headlights. I have a light up vest which is considered the gold standard and it makes me visible to cars. However, it doesn't do anything when it comes to lighting to see your way or use tools etc. That light really gives you that light. The difference is the same as glow stick and flashlight. The two lenses on the front are polarized vertically to throw more light in front of you, or horizontally to throw a wider beam. With both on, you get a bit of both and a very bright light to boot. The front light can be easily tilted up and down to illuminate the path in front of you at a more horizontal angle if required. I'm 5ft 10" tall and with chest light it projects about 2ft in front of me. It produces a cone of light that is 3 feet in diameter. The device is light and quite comfortable. I'm a little tense, but I have big breasts. Three-point harnesses can make alignment a bit tricky, but they can also work better when worn over outerwear or with a backpack. The light on the chest means it puffs up as you run. This is great for making sure you're seen, but it reduces the portion of your path that you can see. Without a full charge, it stayed on for over an hour, although it darkened over time. It was still light enough to see clearly.
