Before use, I checked the accuracy with a ratchet set to 0.0000, it repeatedly measured 0.0005. I set it to 0.0000. I then opened the mic up a full inch, as it neared its maximum opening it became a bit more difficult to rotate the barrel. For my particular application this is not important as I only need to measure between 0.450 and 0.500. If this instrument is to be used for full range measurements I would not recommend purchasing it.
