Adorable playset perfect for car or animal lovers

This is one of the best Little People sets and one of the cutest toys I have ever seen. Whoever came up with the idea of combining the fire department and animal rescue center was brilliant! There is something for every child in this set, whether they love vehicles or animals. It's gender neutral and has lots of charming details. I was able to snag it on sale and since it's a 6 figure amount it's definitely worth what I paid ($25). You get figures of a boy and a girl (a fireman and an animal rescuer), a cat and a dog, as well as a fire truck and a helicopter. I gave this to my 21 month old son for Christmas and he loves to play with it and I know when he starts to pick up RPGs we will have more of these. By the time he was about 9 months old he was obsessed with cars and vehicles in general so I knew he would love a helicopter and a truck. At the moment he likes it best when I put the fire engine in front of the door and he then presses the button and the fire engine drives out to the music. We've already done it 25 times easily :-). The helicopter's blades will spin when you place it on the landing pad and twist the handle. Inside the sanctuary are a feeding bowl and a sunken bed. I teach my son how to feed pets and put them to bed. There is also a bathtub on the top floor and you can wash your pets with artificial soap bubbles. The kitten can "get stuck" in several spots in the tree and then be rescued using the fire truck's retractable ladder (or a helicopter can fly in and grab it). Super sweet! This set is lockable so it doesn't take up too much space. My only complaint is that my son has a bit of a hard time leveling the truck (the ladder needs to be in the correct straight and lowered position or it will get stuck when opening the doors). Also, getting the helicopter in position to spin the rotor blades is a little frustrating for him. This set closes, but only if you put the truck in at an angle. These are all minor issues and I know the first two complaints won't be a problem as my son gets older and more coordinated. I highly recommend this playset; We have fun. When my son is older, I think he will enjoy making up scenarios about putting out fires, rescuing cats, and studying animals.
