This is a great camera and it does what it promises. The video is really clear and the motion sensor turns the camera on almost instantly so there is little lag. More light is better, but video is still good in low light. The motion detection can turn off the camera in low light, but when the light decreases, the motion detection function also works. The manufacturer does not claim not to have motion detection in low light conditions, so no one should refuse him for that. The motion detection actually worked in low light, I didn't think it would work, so that's a positive. I managed to get it firing within 15ft and will work longer if given the opportunity. Overall, this is a great camera that's easy to use. Plug it in and you're good to go. When setting the time and date, do not try to edit the date file in the root directory. Just create another .txt file and follow the instructions and you'll be fine.
