Bought as a dog guard (2 black labradors). Very easy to install. I was concerned because my actual opening was outside the recommended 34.5" margins, but by removing the lag screw I was able to get it to work. It is solid metal with high quality parts, high quality thick transparent rubber stops that cannot damage or stick to the outdoor railings. The gate conveniently closes on its own if you open it about 60 degrees - any more and it stays open. The gate's security consists of top and bottom latches, making it very secure, but requires a handle mechanism with 2 contact points that must be depressed. It's easy to do with one hand, and once you get used to it, it's easy.
