You get what you pay for

We have had this unit for about six months now. We live in a townhouse with two cats that is about 85% hardwood floors. It worked great out of the box and was a real miracle. Pros > Lightweight > Floor lamps > Battery life > Docking station > Maneuverability > Handheld vacuum > We found the end of the handheld nozzle to be oddly shaped and virtually useless. In most cases, this requires the use of the supplied two-way extension. Too bad there's no place to attach it to the vacuum cleaner and it's never at hand when you need it. > Suction drops dramatically when the non-washable internal filter becomes clogged. Even if cleaned with a soft brush, it doesn't last long. Be sure to order this unit with a spare filter ($5) and keep it handy > The small-diameter floor brush and front cylindrical wheels are tangled with human hair, which greatly affects the cleaning efficiency. Also, although the brush comes off easily, it is difficult to remove. > Finally, the engine mounts started squeaking the other day, which means it's dying. > I absolutely hate buying replacements as choosing vacuums is a particularly confusing job. So it works great and if you religiously clean the filter, brush and rollers I expect it will continue to do so. Keep the handpiece extension somewhere in the middle where it's easy to access (in your pocket?). I tested commercial vacuums once and all you had to do with them was change/clean the large capacity nozzle. Pocket. Too bad they weighed a ton and weren't very versatile, portable or manoeuvrable. I may go back to the modern swivel head version as they are now much lighter and more compact which makes them more manoeuvrable. Also, they don't need a hook or station to prevent them from falling when stored.
