Review on Chromebook Compatible Chargeable Lightweight Portable by Byron Elliott

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Smaller than the original charger, compatible with the same factory

I wanted a replacement charger for my Lenovo S340 Touch Chromebook and this charger was the right spec and it turned out. The charger is smaller than the original Lenovo charger in all dimensions, -3.4 mm wide, -5.2 mm long and -3.5 mm high (see photo). Doesn't sound like much, but it's noticeable. Unfortunately, the power cord exits the case straight, unlike Lenovo's cable, which bends 90 degrees as it exits the case, so the benefit of being smaller is lost, as the cable protrusion more than offsets any benefit. (see photo) Shame as I was planning on using this charger as a travel charger to save space but the power cord ruined that idea. Times, so it's functionally identical, which is a good thing. It didn't get too hot either. The charger has a blue LED to show it's on, which the original charger doesn't have, and this can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on where you're using it. Interestingly, the blue LED will flash blue when the charger loses power. This is a great feature - I've been in hotel rooms where the power went out on the room desktop when the lights went out and I didn't know until the next morning and I had a dead device. Doh! The length of the cord was about the same, to within a few inches. At the time of writing this review, the Lenovo charger cost $54.99 compared to the $16.99 items analyzed, which is more than triple the price, so it's a solid deal. .If you just need a spare charger for home or office use I think this is a 5 star item but for me it was ruined by the cable. 4 stars. So close.
