I bought this item to replace the base, seat and cylinder of an office chair that I have had for over 10 years. I quickly assembled the new parts, then detached the chair from the old parts, moved it around and attached it to the new base. I then sat down in a chair and found that there was absolutely no tension when I reclined, so I turned the spring adjustment knob on the seat plate a few turns, but there was still no tension. I had to turn the handle all the way to finally get some tension, but not as strong as it should be as the spring on the plate is weak. The tension problem was bearable for me, so I continued to use the chair as usual. After a few days, I noticed that when I move in the chair, I lean from side to side, which is not normal. I looked under the chair and saw that the seat panel was bent. My wife sat in the seat and moved around while I looked at the panel and you could see the metal really flexing with every slight lateral movement. After a few days of use, the lift cylinder started to leak. This product is advertised as heavy duty with a maximum load of 320lbs, but it's made of lightweight materials and isn't that strong! I strongly advise you NOT to purchase this item! If you do, save your old parts for something to use if they fail quickly!
