Super cheap and flimsy

We recently moved into a house and now I have a room just for me and all my girl stuff. I recently bought a desk - it wasn't the color I really wanted but it fit the budget. So, to combat very cheap faux wood, I bought this marbled contact paper. I compared several but ended up with the cheaper option and the reviews were decent. First, it's the same contact paper you can buy at your local store for a dollar. Second, it's super thin. When I smoothed it out with a plastic card, it tore. I wasn't rude at all and I wasn't in a hurry. So the fact that it snapped while straightening should have been a sign it wasn't going to end well. When I had to put a piece on top of an already laid one, it was clear where they overlapped. Doesn't hold up like I would like. I ended up taking it off because when I had to pick it up and adjust it (I was careful and took my time) it ripped another piece I had already put in place. There was no way to make this crack less "invisible". I decided to take everything down and try to redo everything and in the process he ripped off the table top! Yes it was a pretty cheap table but it was good. I just got this table and now it looks even crappy. I suppose this contact paper will suffice for much smaller projects, but for larger projects like my desk, just skip this junk and spend a little more for a better quality contact paper. Not worth โ‚ฌ5.
