This pocket magnifier does exactly what it says on the tin. It contains three identical lenses that can be used individually or in combination. When all used together the stack makes a powerful magnifying glass with a relatively short working distance so you need good light. Used alone or in pairs, the working distance is more reasonable, but the increase is smaller. I haven't attempted to measure focal length or magnification, but compared to other lenses, the 5x magnification claim for single lenses is plausible. The 10x magnification for the pair and the 15x magnification for all three are of course due to the properties of the lenses. I actually carry it mainly as a macro lens for my phone camera. It's easy to lean against the back of the phone when taking photos when the lens(es) are aligned with the camera, and the powerful magnifying lens allows the camera to focus very close to the subject.
