Review on Efficient Amazon Basics Window Squeegee: Handle for Glass, Mirror, Car Window Cleaning by Amy Wilkins

Doesn't wash water well off glass

This describes a Revain Basics squeegee with no handle. The silicone blade has a T-shaped profile on the edge that comes into contact with the glass. This edge is slightly jagged, leaving gaps in contact with the glass when swiping. If you press the blade firmly against the glass, you can get full contact. Without a vertical grip, this force is more difficult to apply. In any case, the tips of the T are quite thick, which is also annoying when working. I have this to apply glue to the wood, I'm going to trim the blade contact area with a razor blade and see if that makes things any better. My regular shower scraper is Oxo with a silicone blade, it's amazing. Oxo has a single edge with no T-profile. I also have an old California Dryer that I use on cars after washing. It also has a T-shaped surface profile, but this T-shaped profile gets thinner the closer it gets to the contact edge. It works well. I think the problem with this base model from Revain is that the T-profile is too thick, doesn't really thin out when it hits the contact edge, and it's not cut with a see-through edge. Can you clean glass? Yes, but it requires heavy blade pressure on the glass. Applying this type of pressure is more difficult as it doesn't have a good grip, the grip it makes is more of a notch parallel to the blade than a perpendicular grip. It's cheap and not worth returning. And maybe I can cut off the "T" and improve the contact edge. So: the T-edge is not smooth, maybe it's the wrong profile to easily sweep water off the glass. The blade is flexible, so it will likely be difficult to shave to get a perfectly smooth edge for effective use on glass.
