Counterfeit product: Does NOT measure body fat

This product is counterfeit. They claim it uses the body's conductivity to measure a number of important metrics, most notably body fat percentage. After a month of use, I noticed that the %BF was a perfect match for my weight (for example, if I was wearing a sweatshirt, the %BF would come back higher due to the extra weight). This, combined with the fact that there's an "Athlete" mode that dramatically lowers the readings, made me suspicious. Interestingly, however, the scale only measures when both feet touch the electrodes. So I hoped that meant I was wrong. Unfortunately, this is just a gimmick they added to trick users into believing it actually measures conductivity. I know this because I designed an experiment where I connected two electrodes on a scale with wires, then stood in the middle of the scale (without touching the electrodes with my feet) and waited to see if they like expected would return an error (if actual measurements were taken). To my disappointment, it returned the same value (15.2%) whether my feet were covered with electrodes or wired. So this product doesn't use electrodes for the measurement, it just uses them to trick the user into returning the 'measurement' only when a lead is detected. The supposedly measured %BF value is nothing more than a calculation based on your height and weight, just like BMI. Cheapness is no excuse for selling a fraudulent product. It's a shame. Weight measurement is accurate and the app is useful for tracking progress. You didn't have to deceive to sell this product.
