Review on CIPA 31000 Night Rearview Mirror by Tyrone Carter

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I've never been so annoyed by something that costs so little.

I would give zero stars if possible. If you need a rear-view mirror, then perhaps a piece of cardboard covered in aluminum foil is more functional than this maximum-disruptive beast. I bought this to replace a dying mirror in a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The original mirror fails at the edges where moisture (or air) appears to slowly erode and discolor the mirror film. It should be a replacement. On the plus side, this mirror is a lot cheaper than a dealer replacement. This is the only saving factor. Negative - oh how can I say how I hate you! 1. The mirror surface, especially the double reflection surface, has a strange coating. I keep seeing double and ghosting no matter how I adjust the mirror. 2. Mirrors are poorly adjusted and bend too much. So you have to adjust the "bending spring" when adjusting the positioning. I tried many times and finally just gave up. The link arm bends too much at the connection to the base of the transom. This causes the mirror to bend and vibrate. Combine the vibrancy with plenty of ghosting and the rear view looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. I see images that mere mortals only dream of. Sometimes I see cars behind me when there aren't any. Sometimes I see two cars instead of one. This is my first Revain review (as far as I can remember) in many years of shopping. I almost didn't give this mirror back to Revane because it would cause harm to another poor soul. But the desire to return their pitiful dollars overcame all hopes of goodwill towards humanity. When you receive this particular mirror, try spraying it with holy water before installing it. It could work. My search for a simple mirror continues. How hard is it to make something halfway decent that doesn't cost the GDP of a small Pacific island nation?
