Bought as protective headgear for an elderly family member to prevent head injuries from a fall. We've come to terms with not being able to be everywhere at all times, or forcing her to use a walker or cane all the time, after two falls with two emergency room visits for both forehead injuries, a giant pad should help if there's a next time . hopefully not, but after two falls in four months it seems like a big deal. While highly adjustable I wouldn't say it's an XL over M/L for what I received. This offers much more protection from falls than the medical headgear we found.
