My niece and I paint a lot. These watercolor brushes were a lightning fast deal for Revain, so I thought they would be the perfect way for us to spend our afternoon painting without the fuss and fuss. She intuitively dipped the brush into the water and after a few seconds the brush turned from green to translucent as if the paint/ink had seeped into the water rendering the brush useless. However, the water was still clear, only with a greenish tinge. She tried another color and the brush lost color again. I looked at the packaging and there were no instructions or warnings about not submerging watercolor pencils in water. So we started using brushes without dipping them in water first. We managed to get the color to flow, but the color/ink was so faded that you had to go over the same area multiple times to get any opacity. This made the color cloudy and dull. Instead we decided to use markers and gel pens. These watercolor pencils are not worth the package they came in, BUYER BEWARE IT DOESN'T WORK. I even tried soaking some pencils in water as suggested in the Q&A, but to no avail. I gave this a 1 star for 1 empty brush that can be filled with your own color. Unfortunately, the pre-filled brushes ended up in the trash.
