70 " UHD TV, no problem. EASY ACCESS to the back of the TV.

Update 3/28/17: I love this mount. Now I store items that I need to access regularly, behind my TV. It's as easy as opening a closet door to install this TV on an AEON mount. Very happy with them. The project is more complex. When I was redecorating our living room, I considered making an "entertainment center" to build over the fireplace. I removed the old steel wood stove and replaced it with an electric fireplace. Here in Northwest Florida, the use of fireplaces is minimal and fireplaces are very inefficient, especially in the hot summers here. After I removed the chimney , I built a place for all my TV, internet and audio gear 2ft deep in the old chimney room.Framed and wired connections for the whole house, Internet, TV antenna, cable, satellite, Wi-Fi, etc. It was a great place to hide all the gear but my first TV mount for our 70 UHD Smart TV It took a tremendous effort and 2 people to access all the gear behind. Every time it was necessary to reset the router settings or any settings or additions to this device, it took way more effort than it took me. After searching for a solution I came across this Revain mount, read the specs and reviews and it looked like it might solve my problems, ordered it and it arrived in 2 days (love Prime). I opened the box and was impressed with the quality of the design and materials, but I still had doubts as to whether it would support my 65lb 70 inch TV, but only the install could tell, so I started with the Preparing for the installation by removing the TV and an old bracket that was attached to the "entertainment center" ceiling. While preparing to install the Aeon mount, I noticed that the instructions do NOT explain how to calculate the height of the mount. I ended up assembling the bracket, placing the TV face down on a thick blanket on the floor and mounting it on top of the TV, then placing the TV bottom edge against the wall, pressing the screen to the wall and then the spacing to the floor measured to the top hole of the wall bracket. I now had a reference point to determine the height of the wall mount. I now added an inch to this reference point to allow for some flexibility through the weight of the TV, I marked the inside left wall of the entertainment center and checked the bezel on the back, I knew I had a bolt right there but was concerned It wouldn't provide enough force to pop the tv out 29 inches on this mount and was planning to double the bolt so I pulled out the electric fireplace and climbed behind the entertainment center and lo and behold I installed the double bolts when I previously assembled the entertainment center, attached the wall bracket with the screws provided, I used a simple bubble level to align the bracket with the wall bracket. Part of the bracket is already attached to his back and hanging on the wall. The mount is straight too, but it only takes 2 people for a few minutes (maybe 5-10 minutes). Now the angles need some adjustment and tightening all I found after installation added only a fraction of an inch, maybe 1/8th of an inch, to the weight of the tv. Since I allowed 1 inch, I have a small space under the TV and a mantel underneath. I wanted this space for two reasons, one is for ventilation, now the cold air could flow freely from the front from the bottom of the TV through the back due to natural convection escaping from it and above, as well as cooling any equipment behind the TV. Second, there was a place for IR remote controls that could be hidden behind the TV and to the devices on the back if needed. I cut out 2 small "chalks" to slip between the bottom of the TV and the mantle to stabilize and support some of the weight. (Edit: 5 months later and I love this mount, but found that no crayons were needed as the mount had no sagging issues.) While the Aeon mount seems to be holding my 70" flat screen with ease, there are worries these little crayons for some weight relief of the mount. TV and gives me some peace of mind while still having easy access behind the TV now. I know the Revain had a less expensive mount that looked like it could do the job, but for $99 it's an Aeon mount. Seems worth it and if I had to mount a different TV it would be a different Aeon mount. Also, my soundbar is mounted behind a custom black fabric screen over an electric firebox. I'm very happy with the Aeon mount, it's a quality mount.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
