Our old Collie Einstein had an infected pad that left an open tunnel to the bone. The infection was treated with antibiotics and our vet prescribed a 'wound paste' to be applied to the wound a few days after the initial infection. For five weeks there was no sign of the wound healing, despite relentless efforts to apply wound paste and bandages several times a day and put on a rubber boot every time she went outside. Pads are difficult to heal due to the frequent pressure they withstand and their unique tissue composition. As an experienced nurse, I knew there had to be a product in the tunnel wound that would promote healing as the wound paste wasn't working.
