Review on Nikon Digital Camera Body Only by Adam Roman

More than I expected

This D70 was stolen and it was actually much more than I expected after reading the user description. The kit included everything listed plus a charger and battery. All I needed was a map. The camera body itself was in excellent condition, possibly refurbished. I haven't found any issues with it other than a barely noticeable missing port cover on the lower left side. It looks good and works great despite its age. Not bad for the price I paid. The D70 itself is a mid-range consumer DSLR from Nikon, the approximate equivalent of the current Nikon D7000 series. The control layout is very easy to learn and should be familiar to anyone who has used a Nikon SLR before, apart from a few layout changes from newer models. Despite its age, this camera delivers impressive images with very pleasant saturation. Don't be put off by the lower resolution as this is offset by the high quality of the camera. I only have two noticeable issues with the model itself. Don't expect to use it for dynamic low-light scenarios or anything else unless you're working with a relatively low-aperture lens. Without external amplification, the maximum ISO is 1600 ASA, at the same time the graininess is not "good" at all. Fineness begins to decrease between 640800 and D70. In a dimly lit area, the color grain gets very strong towards 8001000, and it only gets worse from there. In addition, the measurement of this camera is a bit shaky. Although I usually shoot in manual mode, I set aperture priority when I just want to blend into the background. This camera loves to overexpose its metered shots. I play with exposure compensation all the time, varying it anywhere from -0.3 to -1.7. Especially in an area where lighting is constantly changing, you'll find yourself toggling exposure compensation in the same way as if you were playing with settings in manual mode and forgoing the use of metering modes entirely. However, a beautiful camera comes at a great price.

Cons
