Review on 🐧 Ready-to-Use Penguin Pottery Liquid Kiln Wash - 16 oz - Effortless Glaze Release, Prevents Sticking to Kiln Shelves by Kim Sanchez

Also works with refractory bricks

I used this to clean my oven and it's as dirty as ever! for the shelves of the kiln to make random drops of glaze fall off the shelf without taking a piece of the shelf with you. I've had this problem with refractory brick shelves so I decided to give this sink a try even though it's not recommended for this application. While this is made for thick, professionally made kiln furniture, it worked great with my clay/silica fireclay brick. The oven rinse comes pre-made so you don't have to start with the powder and mix it yourself. However, the contents of the bottle will settle and you'll have to shake it a bit to get the solids back into solution. The application is easy. Apply three coats and let dry. Then you burn the shelf with the bisque fire. After that you have shelves without sticks. However, if you are still sticking, you should reapply the oven coating to the pulled out area. Refractory brick washes well, but be careful not to soak the brick as it loses some of its insulating properties and requires a lot of washing. This changes the color of the stone, allowing you to see the surface fairly easily. Very happy with this oven wash, although it seems a bit pricey. You can make your own or mix it up from a powder for a cheaper product, but for a few bucks more you can use a ready-to-use professional oven rinse.
