I have exceeded his limits!

I spent two nights in -35F with winds up to 50 mph a few hundred feet off the shore of Lake Michigan at the tip of the Wisconsin Peninsula in a canvas hammock (not usually recommended for winter camping) . I really wanted to push this case forward. I was warm enough to sleep and I don't sleep well at all. I was still very layered and my back and legs were definitely a bit chilly as the wind was blowing from below absorbing my heat (which is why hammocks are not recommended), but I was still relatively comfortable! i love this thing I don't really need a tent and even had a few warm nights without a bed and slept on most shifts. I can just throw it somewhere I won't get poked with sticks and I'm ready to go. Time savings in real time. Well what I don't like. It's heavy, takes up a lot of space (I recommend attaching it to your backpack, not stuffing it in) and collects a lot of condensation (not winterproof). It's definitely better when you can take a breather and not completely shut down. Of course, if rain or snow is forecast, you should close completely. I use it in combination with a tarp and no worries! Well, besides being a bit paranoid about spying on bears, wolves, mountain lions, coyotes, porcupines, and anything else you don't want to encounter in the middle of the night. rzunimag.
