Review on 🎧 ECS WordSmith USB In-Ear Transcription Headset with Advanced Noise Reduction by Michelle Larson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great buy fits well with headphones

I ordered these on the recommendation of my sister who is a very experienced typist. I have used high quality headphones designed for listening to music and movies and they have been great except when I had to listen to a poor quality audio transcript because they picked up and amplified every background noise. The ECS WordSmith headset is designed to pick up the sounds of human speech and filter out distracting background noise that can make transcription difficult. Sure, they're not perfect, but they definitely make a difference. Unfortunately, they can't make a speaker who mumbles sound like a diction genius, but they can make that speaker's mumble a little more intelligible. Just to make sure there was a difference, I listened to a test audio file that I wanted to play. transcribed with my music/movie headphones and I could hear a definite difference. I think this headset is worth trying. The headset also comes with four sets of small rubber ear tips so you can adjust the headset to fit your ears. The headset is also very light and I don't even feel it when I'm wearing it. Even after an hour of transcribing the audio, I don't feel uncomfortable. There are two things I should mention, although none of the aspects affected my overall rating of this product: 1) When you play audio with a headset plugged in for the first time, it will be VERY LOUD. I recommend plugging a headset into a USB port and setting the volume to 0 - not just muting, but vice versa - one-click volume down and then slowly up - using the volume controls on the computer. or the controls on the headset - with headphones in your ears. I've found that I can hear fairly clearly with the headset, even at the lowest volume. You must do this every time you use the headset to ensure your eardrums don't explode. 2) I've also found that the headset only works when plugged directly into the computer's USB port. If you're using a USB hub, sound will still come out of your computer's speakers even after the headset driver is fully installed. At least that's how it worked on my computer. Maybe it was just an accident with my computer and you won't have the same problem, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Other than that, I love this headset and think it's money well spent. When you order it, just use the standard shipping method, as the seller - Executive Communication Systems - a speech processing specialist - uses two-day priority mail, so you'll get it well before the delivery date set by Revain. I did this because I was in no hurry to receive the order, so I decided to wait a week. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received the package two days later with no request for expedited shipping.
