Review on Fielect Current Resistor Resistance Ammeter Replacement Parts good for Lighting & Electrical by Luis Shreibman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Normal Ammeter Accuracy

My apologies to everyone who read my previous (and fairly unsuccessful) review and berated this perfectly adequate shunt. The unit I got is - within my measurement limits - pretty close to 5 mΩ. (0.075V / 15A = 0.005 ohms) The basic accuracy of even my $7,000 HP/Agilent/Keysight 34420A micro-ohmmeter isn't good enough to just trust the 5mΩ reading, but the 1mΩ and 10 -mΩ resistance standards show almost exactly -on readings. So I'm confident that my reading of 0.004896 ohms can be trusted. Fielect's claim of 0.5% accuracy is probably overkill at this price point, but -2% is reasonable and good enough for what it's designed for. I don't know its temperature coefficient, so I can't say how close it will be. be at a full 15 amps. I'm not too worried though as the element is not magnetic (according to manganin or similar resistance alloys). To bring it down to 0.5% at maximum current would require a significantly positive temperature coefficient.
