Straps don't dig into skin like rubber bands but have a stretchy effect that helps hold shoulders back. I bought 5 back braces to help me study longer. They all helped, this is the most comfortable to wear. Neoprene shoulder straps. Wetsuit material with a lot of suppleness so the edges don't dig into the skin. I often wear it with sleeveless shirts (it's hot right now) but it's the only brace I can wear with sleeveless shirts. others dig and feel uncomfortable. I think I'm just really happy with this purchase and have been using it every day for almost a month.
