I have stereotypical Asian black hair and lots of gray on the sides but some gray on top. I've dyed my hair at salons for $20 and up. Depending on how long they left the product in my hair, 20 minutes or less, my hair would sometimes turn an orange hue after a few weeks, which I hated since you could see I had dyed my hair. Depending on how it was applied, when my hair grew out the roots were very obvious. I mentioned this to a stylist so they combed through the hair color and left some gray and made my hair look more natural as it grew. I decided to try Men Only when I had a case where I wanted to look good but couldn't make an appointment to color it. Finding the right color was the first challenge but the directions and most reviews recommended lighter and they were correct as I was playing with multiple shades and the black was too black and didn't look natural and honey colored. The brown was a little lighter than my natural hair color but it looked good so now I use dark brown all the time. The instructions and application are fairly simple, so I only shampoo the sides where most of my gray hair is. I use as little product as possible to keep spills to a minimum, but just enough to cover most of my gray hair. I put petroleum jelly on my scalp, along my hairline, and on my neck to wash away any dye from my skin. I also use a dark colored towel draped around my neck to avoid getting my shoulders or upper body dirty. I use just 2 fingers to gently dab the shampoo into the product, being careful not to splatter the paint onto the vanity, walls or floor. I then use a regular brush to blend in with the rest of my hair, making sure I've covered plenty of gray. I let it steep for 40 minutes to an hour. After rinsing off the Access color until the water runs clear I use Revlon Color Safe Shampoo to wash off the Access color and a dark towel to dry my hair as I have ruined a lot of white towels as some Colors are washed out of the towel anyway first wash. . I have thinning hair and after using this product my hair has definitely gotten thicker and it lasts for a few days. The color usually lasts a month on me, but I usually wear about every 2 weeks to minimize the appearance of roots. No one will know I color my hair and even if I let it grow out for 4 weeks the color stays and the only sign I color my hair is at my roots and only IF someone is really looking closely. I use this product regularly, save a lot of money and work better than in salons. I highly recommend it, but using this product can be messy if not careful.
