First I used Tangerine Dye as a correction for the Back to Black pack. If you don't understand why I'm adding orange to my black paint set, you can read the explanation on Rit's website for detailed instructions on their products and various finished projects. subsequent dye adhered to my fabric (cordura/nylon) as expected and as advertised - instructions (rit website) for re-dyeing already dyed fabric (why i used tangerine dye) worked amazingly - i think i got the best result possible achieves the other methods I researched for this project - I used less water than stated, and still get great results. Cons: - It was difficult to find a jar big enough to fit my object (ME problem) - According to the instructions, it needs LOTS of water - Rinsing after staining takes a long time and requires a lot of water. Tips: - Reet recommends the "stovetop" method and/or as hot water as possible (considering your fabric's tolerance) for best results: I had a large 12 liter pot of boiling water and my kettle heated the extra water. Once the pot was boiling, I placed it in a large camping fridge, added more water to the pot, and brought it to a boil to get the hottest water all the time. I closed the lid between adding water. - Once all the water was added, I mixed my dyes, ADDED the VINEGAR and placed my item in the tub. - Nylon stains quickly, but I left it in for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly. Using a camping cooler really worked to hold a large object and keep the water as hot as possible during the coloring process. My object had multiple types of fabrics. It's mostly Cordura/Nylon. If you look closely at one of the all-black photos, you can see a slight blue cast on the rim tape of this base jumping container. In real life it looks really cool in bright sunshine, but is otherwise hardly recognizable. You can see a slight bluish cast on the rim tape of this base jumping container.
