doesn't dry clear good for me

I used this product to stiffen a crocheted hat. The upper portion of the Zulu style hat needed to stand up firm at about 8" above the top of the cap-like hat. I applied the product to just the top of the hat. The product did indeed stiffen the piece adequately. I thinned it a bit with water and it still stood up firm as expected. HOWEVER, the product left a hint of opaque "white" color on the surface of the black hat, so the treated top of the hat did not match the "cap-like" portion of the hat

Pros
  • Enjoyed working with this product and did what I wanted to do
Cons
  • The cap was super loose and it was all over inside the package.

I love these: my feedback

I use Stiffy for the hair bows and other crafts I make It's the best fabric stiffener. I've used it for years I highly recommend it

Pros
  • ...for stiffening material for earrings!
Cons
  • Not suitable for use on delicate fabrics like silk and chiffon

Stuffy fabric stiffener

The product itself is fine and works great for stiffening crocheted snowflakes that I’m making for ornaments. But I have a complaint about the shipping and packaging because the bottle top arrrived broken and cracked.

Pros
  • This is an excellent product at a reasonable price
Cons
  • May not be effective on fabrics with a loose weave

Stiffy is easy to use and work great!

This stuff really works. I bought it to see if I could restore old knitted kippahs (skulcaps) to new condition, and it worked great. You can't see the stuff at all after it dries. Also, I found that I could reshape the item by wetting it with hot water, setting the new shape, and allowing it to re-dry. I did this several times without reapplying the Stiffy, with no loss of stiffening. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I'd prefer to see some instructions for use and a list of ingredients…

Pros
  • Would recommend to anyone
Cons
  • Can cause the fabric to become discolored over time

Not what I wanted - my new review

Pictured is Mod Podge brand but I received an off brand that I have never heard of. I would not have ordered had I known it wasn’t the mod podge brand.

Pros
  • Have been using it for a number of years and considerate the best stiffener I've tried.
Cons
  • Can make the fabric heavier and uncomfortable to move in

I wish I could give this zero stars.

Unfortunately, I'm forced to say that this was a complete waste of money! I hate to leave a bad review but I use products like this for my business all the time and thought I can try to help someone else. I tried this one out as it was a cheaper alternative to my usual Aleene's Stiffen-Quick Fabric Stiffening Spray 8oz To me, even when this product was heavily diluted, it was still just like pouring Elmer's PVA glue all over your fabric (most of which I use is silk, so a huge waste) and even…

Pros
  • lots of uses for the crafty person. Goes a long way. I used it on a quilt to make a wall hanging !
Cons
  • May require several coats to achieve desired stiffness

Plaid Stiffy Fabric Stiffener- 16 oz.

I worked STIFFY on fabric. Very pleased. I got what she wanted. Tissues it is necessary rigidity for dilution with water. NO GLOSS. RECOMMEND FOR TISSUE

Pros
  • It is a good starch.
Cons
  • May not hold up well against wear and tear

Works on Paper Too on my review.

I was making some paper brooches and wanted to stiffen 3D areas so they wouldn't be crushed when worn. The brooches were made from cardstock weight papers. Some had been decorated with acrylic paint and Finetec mica watercolor paints. I brushed the completed brooches (before adding the pinback) with a heavy coat of Stiffy directly from the bottle. The brooches dried very hard. I'm completely satisfied.

Pros
  • Love this stuff. Works just as advertised.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in humid and moist environments

Good product best in my review

Good product. Used this on my Canvas sun hat that after "washing" I thought was ruined. After applying Stiffy with a paint brush to work it into the fabric, forming the shape and letting it dry it is good to go. Really works and not messy, cleans up with water

Pros
  • Great as always
Cons
  • Can cause fabric to shrink and become misshapen

Cons
  • May interfere with the breathability of the fabric

Excellent for flower making

it can stiff any fabric, you regulate with more or less water, depending on how stiff you want your fabric. great product!

Pros
  • It works just as I'd hoped & I'll be using it in many crafts.
Cons
  • Can leave visible marks on the fabric after application

Not Quite Stiff Enough

I bought this to make a yarn-based Christmas ornament in which you wrap a small balloon with yarn that has been dipped in fabric stiffener. When it dries, you pop the ballon and pull out the pieces, leaving you with a lacy-looking ornament. This product works, but it is not quite stiff enough for this project. It leaves the yarn flexible and doesn't hold its round shape as well as I hoped. Nevertheless, it is probably good for other projects that do not need to be so stiff.

Pros
  • Love this product.....Very easy to use and did not have to use excessive amount.
Cons
  • Can change the texture of the fabric permanently

Great for staffing fabric

I tried to use to staffing macrame cord. Did not like they way it looked. But work great on cheese cloth. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Product is usable straight from container
Cons
  • May attract dust and dirt more easily

Fabric Stiffener good for me

its kinda thick but I watered it down and put it in a spray bottle and sprayed it on my fabric. It didn't take too long for it to stiffen up. I use the fabric for making cards.

Pros
  • motherin law say this is terrific
Cons
  • Can cause the fabric to become wrinkled and creased
