Here is my use case: I am photographing an R5. I need a travel bag that can fit two Canon LP-E6NH batteries, a couple of CFexpress cards, older SDXC cards and some microSD cards for my drone. My CFexpress cards are much larger capacity (512GB) so I use fewer slots than my lower capacity SDXC cards (64GB). There are not many options suitable for batteries and memory cards. Of all the cases I looked at, this design was the closest to perfection. My first impression was not very good. I took the product out of the packaging and found that it was scratched and worn. I'm the type to take care of things like that. (Unfortunately not.) I asked for an exchange. The replacement arrived in perfect condition - no scratches or scuffs. The scratched gold metal accents on the outside of the case are decals. They were neither straight nor firmly attached to the body to be replaced. This made it easier to remove them. I think the case looks much better without it, so I was grateful that the person who put it on didn't bother to do a good job. In both the first case and the replacement case, the red inserts were not fully seated behind the small black plastic tabs designed to hold them in place. This is a fairly simple fix, but another reminder that the folks putting it together care more about speed than accuracy. These red inserts are a rubbery material with less flexibility and elasticity than the high-quality, dense foam found in my Pelican memory card case, for example. The hinges are thin ABS plastic, not metal. I don't know if they will survive a fall but I don't expect them to fail with normal use. The same goes for the square loop at the top of the case. He looks rather fragile. I'll never use it, so I'd be glad if it wasn't there at all. I'm thinking of putting it in my dremel. I doubt the case is waterproof. I won't test it. However, there is a small groove in the bottom rubber insert that the top cap fits into. This makes it difficult for water or dust to get in by means other than water immersion. The housing is designed for different battery types. LP-E6 batteries fit snugly without a yellow compartment that snaps into place at the back. They do not fit in the installed tray. This is not a problem for me. Another reviewer was concerned that the red insert might be conductive. No, that is not so. Everything is absolutely safe. While the case fits the LP-E6 batteries snugly from side to side, the battery compartment holds the batteries slightly higher. Therefore, you will feel a slight movement when you shake the case when it is closed. Again, that doesn't bother me. If that bothers you, four pieces of cheap open-cell foam are included with the case to fill in the extra space and ensure a snug fit. The pieces of foam were already disintegrating when I opened the case, so I strongly recommend throwing those things away before a small piece of foam ends up where it shouldn't be. Memory cards are perfect for CFexpress cards and great for SDXC cards. The slots are narrow enough to hold cards in place without putting too much pressure on them. Things aren't looking so good for microSD card slots, however. microSD cards are not suitable. They protrude beyond their allotted space, affecting the landing of SDXC cards that are above them. Shame considering how well everything else fits. I think I'll probably leave them empty and fill the SD card slots with the microSD cards in their adapters. The Samsung model I use is as fast as a regular SD card anyway. Bottom line I think this product would work well for my use case and would recommend it to others with similar needs, especially other R5 shooters. I want it to fit my Pelican body, but for the asking price, the stakes aren't particularly high.
