I have used Power Shot and Cyber Shot in the past. I chose this one because I don't want to take my camcorder or other items with me on the trip. .Also I have small size, 10MP+ and HD video. So there are 2-3 applicants, one is also from Nikon. I looked through all the models in the store and finally ordered this one. Pros: - Very good design, weight and packaging. - Very convenient and simple user interface. - Touch screen. it's really good and works like a charm. - HD video recording is a really nice feature. - The startup time is very fast, less than 2 seconds. Just slide the lid off and it's on. This is one of the fastest cameras I've seen. Cons: - The main thing you buy a camera for is to capture still images, which makes it very poor. - Images are sooo grainy whether you're shooting indoors or outdoors. - It can only capture 72 DPI images, that's the only reason the image quality is so bad. - Don't you dare print out pictures taken indoors. too bad for printing - Battery life is very bad when it comes to video recording. If you record videos continuously for more than 3-5 minutes, you may find that the battery is dead. The 4x zoom is very poor and if you use the smart zoom (with software) your picture will be ruined. The reason I didn't go back is because my wife loves it as she can carry it in her bag and quickly film our baby who just started crawling. She likes to just record videos, no camcorder.
