They’re fine if you just need one

These are probably as good as any of you just need one. I needed six, two long ones and four short ones. I needed to add additional shelves to the monitor platform of a 55” gaming table that I want to use for ham radio. Two short shelves and one long ones are just about the perfect width. Except they didn’t butt up flush to one another. The plastic trim on the top extended about 1/32” wider than the sides. Four such connections yielded the 1/8” that these were over. So I took a sharp wood chisel and removed the trim. Four of the resulting shelf tops had chips from internal weak spots where the cement holding the trim was stronger than the pressed wood. It would have been nice if these things were just square with no overhang to deal with. Frankly, I don’t see 1/32” being aesthetically appealing. It’s not something you would even notice unless you needed multiple units to sit exactly flush together.I cemented three shelves together per row and then two rows together for a single solid unit. I’ll use a wood filler and something to match the color, so I’ll get it to work. It’s just more effort than I would have liked. Each shelf also has a plastic piece to fill a slot. And that piece extends deeper than the shelf, so it’s possible to pop the insert out from the bottom of some tall gets placed in their. This also seems a bad design.

Pros
  • It was ok for the price
Cons
  • May not be compatible with all types of desks
