Review on ADATA UV150 64GB USB 3.0 Snap-on Cap Flash Drive, Black - High Performance Storage (AUV150-64G-RBK) by Stanislaw Bieroza ᠌

The right product for me, the price suited me.

I bought a 64 Gb model at the end of February 2022 to watch movies on TV. In tests, it shows good read and write speeds, but in practice, the speeds jump a lot and depend on heating. Strongly embarrassed mountain-like speed jumps. Apparently (I don’t know for sure), many modern flash drives have a small, fast buffer, into which all the information being written initially falls. This allows you to optimize the recording of small information, increasing the recording speed. This also leads to the fact that short synthetic speed tests show results much higher than real and long ones (especially on a cold flash drive). And on the speed graphs you can see "mountains" of speed drops as the buffer is filled and reset. Flash drive speed on 64Gb via USB3.0 at low temperatures: Sequential Read - 100-120 MB/s Sequential write - 15-56 MB / s (in practice, an average of about 25 MB / s) When heated, the write speed sagged to 19 MB / s and even once to about 0.75 MB / s Flash drive speed on 64Gb via USB2.0: Sequential Read - 31MB/s Sequential write - 25 MB/s I advise you to buy for storage of unimportant information with frequent reading (music in the car, bootable flash drives, temporary data) and I strongly advise against loading the flash drive heavily, overwriting many times, storing important or small files. Speed jumps strained me and I gave it back, I decided to try a more expensive flash drive with better cooling - Samsung Bar Plus 64Gb.

Pros
  • + Good volume / cost ratio - about 600 for 64 Gb + According to synthetic tests, a good sequential write speed (about 75 MB / s) + Remarkable speed in sequential read tests (in peaks 100-120 MB/s) + Quite comfortable and beautiful case + Suitable for storage of unimportant information with frequent reading
Cons
  • - Low reliability (break relatively often, based on other reviews); - Sensible heating - Extremely unstable speed - it constantly jumps, and sometimes it sags a lot (possibly due to heating) - Poorly suited for tasks with frequent and / or long overwriting of a flash drive
