two moons? Why!? Torture the children!

I had fond memories of these type of toys when they were little and thought my 2 year old could benefit from the physical manipulation which today's kids don't do enough on a daily basis. The pieces are big enough for her to easily grab and (sometimes) put them in the right holes. She gets a little frustrated when she doesn't fit, maybe opening the holes a little more would benefit a younger audience. My main criticism of this toy is the inclusion of two moon shapes (crescents). One has a slight bend, the other doesn't. The bending of a solid piece is so insignificant that at a cursory glance one cannot immediately tell which piece is which. My daughter doesn't tease anyone when she has the right overall shape but the part doesn't fit because she isn't the right one. Why they chose to include two identical shapes with such a subtle difference is beyond me. They should really reconsider this and maybe add a whole different shape instead of two so close together.
