For the price I wasn't expecting much and wasn't disappointed. I attached a 14" 14/3 wire pigtail to test the fixture before a full install. I hooked it up to a simple mushroom ceiling light with a CFL bulb. As far as I can tell, that's the operation almost completely random. The light went on several times as I moved and while I was eating upstairs I heard it turn on and off intermittently with no movement down the short hallway it was installed in. Several times it actually did out when I stepped out of the garage door into the hallway where it was installed.Because it was a flexible pigtail I positioned the sensor in various ways in case heat or CFL light would interfere.I also have it with an LED and an incandescent bulb, constantly changing the light sensitivity setting.None of this mattered.Unfortunately I didn't get around to trying this until my returns window was closed.
