These particular bulbs work well in my outdoor lamp. The lamp with them is much softer and warmer. They appear to resemble the light of a candle and cast a very, very yellow light. If you have an old-style faucet, it looks beautiful on the outside. Indoors they can be great in a dining room, except they don't work with dimmers. It's not the kind of bulb you'd want to read under or for general lighting like in a living room, the color is too yellow for that. . But for accent lighting and other places where you need a really warm glow, rather than task lighting or general lighting, they'll work just fine. I think the 16W equivalent is fine. These aren't that bright.
