If you are considering buying this phone then you already have a compatible VTech phone system and know how it works and how it feels. This phone works the same way. This is just an add-on if you want to place another phone and base station in your home. I bought this to complement my existing V-Tech 2 phone system. Remember you must have one of the listed VTech series to use this. Before ordering I made sure the phones are compatible. It was easy to test and when I thought they would work together I made the purchase. Setup was extremely easy. I charged the phone and then placed the new phone on the home base of the existing phone system. This allowed the new phone to be paired with other phones. I knew it was successful by reading the information on the phone screen. I keep this blue VTech cordless phone in my home office and put another system (originally two phones) in the main part of the house. They all work the same way and can use each other's base to charge. Good budget supplement.
