Since this is my first scanner, it’s really difficult for me to write about the advantages, since there was nothing to compare with. But the shortcomings are immediately visible and without any comparison. Has some pros: Very fast scanning speed even at 4800dpi. Ready to scan quickly, no warm-up time required. Different cons: Scanned materials are blurry. At first I thought that the film was somewhat twisted, but when I moved on to scanning already printed photos, it turned out that the soap had not gone away. If you turn on sharpening in the settings when scanning, it turns out fine. But this is already a preliminary processing of the material. It seems that when this option is disabled, the program deliberately spoils the image, so that later it can brag about how it can improve clarity. Frames for scanning films are just awful. Constantly popping snacks from the attachment points on the frames. Epson Scan always turns on automatic correction modes. You turn them off, but as soon as you slightly change the size of the scan area, the automatic correction mode turns on again. Most often it does not find the borders of photos and selects some separate parts of the photos with a frame. You have to manage by hand. The dust removal function works in a strange way. Along with the dust, the pupils and sometimes the eyes also disappear from the image. Sometimes, inexplicably, some kind of daub appears, where everything was normal in the original. And this is in the minimum dust removal mode. It is scary to imagine what will happen in the maximum mode. You need to use it very carefully, with the obligatory control of the results. And, most importantly, there is no graphic editor in the kit. Those. there is no longer any Photoshop Elements that they write about here.
