Review on Crosley CR62 BK Kettle Classic Technology by Julie Purvis

Magnificent appearance. The function is not the best.

I have been using these portable electronic phones at home for seven years. You know, the ones that have a station, but you can pick up the phone and wander the house while you talk. They're comfortable, I have to admit. Well our first set required new batteries and I found that the batteries required cost about 2/3 the cost of the phone kit itself. After the replacement, the phone itself went dead. Whine. So we received a new phone of the same type but a different brand. One of the phones has run out of batteries and I think it's only a matter of time before they both run out. I now have an old ATT phone that I bought in the early 80's when we all needed to own a phone instead of renting it from the phone company. It's good that the old phone still works, although the bell no longer rings. No problem. I just let the ringing of the other phone tell me when the call is coming. Meanwhile, there is an old black telephone on the table in the living room. Well, everyone who comes notices it and likes it and wonders if it works and so on. I'm amazed at the attention he's getting. Well it's time to buy a new phone or two and I've found the Crosley Kettle Classic Desk Phone in black. I ordered it and now it's on the table in the living room. Of course, this looks quite spectacular and attracts everyone's attention. Everyone seems to like it, I'm amazed. In this respect I am very satisfied. The phone has a good weight and feel. The phone seems to work well from what I've used, but it has some annoying specs. The audio on this phone is terrible. There are no problems with the clarity, but the sound is very tinny and gets on my nerves. Talking on this phone for a long time is exhausting and I always feel relieved when I hang up. The ringtone is too quiet and cannot be turned on at high volume. It claims to have high and low settings, but mine only works on low. The handset does not lie flat on the cell phone holder and constantly tilts to one side or the other. I finally found a way to fix this, but why would you want to fix a brand new, poorly designed phone? I was quickly getting to the point where I would take any other phone available, not this one. In general, I do not have much confidence in this device. I suspect it will be something that will fail in six months since it is made in China. I hope it won't. At the same time, it wasn't too expensive and cut a great figure as a "design object" in the living room. I would like to add that I would not buy this item again if given a second chance.
