Review on πŸŽ’ Osprey Sirrus Women's Backpack in Purple by Ted Slaughter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It is worth noting a few design flaws.

Well made with all the trimmings. I bought it to use as a GHB (home bag) and found it would be too small for that purpose. Even with a sleeping bag and a mat underneath, there's not enough space for two days of basic gear. Good for a day trip; It fits lunch, water and a few items. UPDATE: I had a chance to test it out today and there are a few design flaws worth noting: I don't know who this bag was designed for, but it's not the average woman. I'm of average height and build (5ft 5in and 150lbs) and there are a few key things that aren't respected. First, the length of the pocket/hip belt position is too short. When hiking, if I tightly adjust the shoulder straps, the lap belt will touch my waist (non-bearing) and not my hip (bearing) If I loosen the shoulder straps so that the lap belt sits on my hip. Folds too loose and gets in the way with every step. Also, the chest strap that is attached in the front to keep the shoulder straps from loosening is too high, it hits my neck! It was very uncomfortable and even dangerous - when I was in the When I was walking in the woods, I ducked under a low branch that caught the top of my pack. The chest strap actually suffocated me! Not cool. Last but not least, there are two small pockets on either side of the hip belt, right where you swing your arms while walking. The insides of my arms were completely torn from rubbing the bags. To avoid this, one must either wear long sleeves or clumsily hold hands while walking. Bags must be adjustable to move forward/backward or detachable. I bought a $58 backpack from Walmart today that is similar to this bag but fits a lot better. In this case, I'm happy to trade a bit of durability for comfort.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
