Connection lost after 1 year

Scanner worked fine at first. Plug and play as advertised. After about 11 months, the USB connector on the device became frayed and it only worked when the cable was stuck in a weird position. Eventually it crashed so many times it was useless. I bought it because it could scan barcodes on cellphone screens, which was good. It's a shame that the USB port was so cheaply constructed.
