I order this to check stock, I used to take pictures of products and I want to scan the barcode from the screen. This scanner works, but it is not very sensitive, it takes several attempts. and it's also very easy to lose focus to scan a nearby barcode. maybe for a small number of barcodes it's good, but not for my task.

The scanner works most of the time but is quite picky about what it will scan. If the barcode isn't perfect or the scanner isn't held at the right angle, it takes a few seconds to scan (if I can get it to scan at all, which often fails). For what? Super cheap but super simple barcode scanner! It works on a plug and play basis and behaves like a keyboard when connected to a computer. I had no problems scanning barcodes, QR codes, etc. A nice feature is that the settings are configured via the barcodes printed in the manual. The scanner worked fine for 60 days and then started to fail. You have to unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in for it to work, but after a few hours it becomes unresponsive again. I've seen this issue with other inexpensive scanners, just thought they would stand behind the product for 90 days, but after 30 days you seem to be out of luck. I connected the supplied cable to the scanner and the other end to the PC, opened a text editor on my computer and started scanning PDF417 and 1D barcodes, den computer screen. It seems to read better off-axis, i.e. not perpendicular to the screen. I suspect this is because the scanner has an LED that illuminates the "paper".
