The scanner works right out of the box. Good. In comparison, I found that for QR codes, I could read 50 eight-character alphanumeric words on separate lines in Excel. That was the maximum I could scan with it. I have an old Motorola 4308 that can scan 100 identical 8 character alphanumeric characters. But it was a lot cheaper. In order to be able to read the computer screen, I had to turn off the light with a simple barcode from the instructions. The guide may be incomplete, even for some people. But for me it was very quick to find what I needed and it worked great.
