I would like to remind you that I am new to ham. These are excellent radios and appear to perform just like similar Boafeng models. I scanned and programmed based on other uv5r tips and no problem. They came with two "upgraded" whip antennas which are useless. I tried them on, and when listening to Noaa channels, the reception became lower than with standard antennas. I could only get reception by standing in certain spots and tilting the radio. I can only make assumptions about the transmission quality, but I don't know exactly because I don't have any test equipment and still have to pass my driver's license test. I look forward to exploring the world of amateur radio with you.
