I recently got this mic because a colleague of mine was jealous of the sound quality on a podcast we do together. I've used Blue Snowball before and the sound quality was "robotic" for lack of a better word. No amount of editing has helped to eliminate this effect. My teammates in games have also complained that when I yell out loud about something exciting, it's very annoying and piercing. With the at2005usb mic, I sound like I'm right there in the room! Without distortion. No problem. The best part? I just opened the package, installed it on the boom and plugged in the USB. On the software side I didn't have to do anything! I just started recording on Audacity that night! This mic is a dynamic cardioid so my teammates never hear my mechanical keyboard click as it only picks up sounds straight ahead. If you live in a noisy house or apartment, this microphone will help you get rid of the extra noise that you and your audience don't want. I'll run a little noise canceller through Banana's Voicemeeter, but you really don't have to. A boom is 100% recommended for gaming with this mic if you are a streamer. A cheap $20 Boom easily supports this mic. The reason I said this mic has room for growth is the ability to use this mic with an XLR setup as well. However, this requires additional investment in a mixer amp and phantom power, so I'm in no hurry. This thing sounds great over USB! This mic rivals the Blue Yeti or HyperX Quadcast on price, but rivals much more expensive mics on sound quality! I would recommend this to anyone interested in good sound, be it podcasting, YouTube, live streaming, voice over work etc.
