WHAT you need for streaming and podcasting

Here's the thing: If you want to podcast or stream, cardioid microphones like the Blue Yeti or similar are often recommended. If you don't have an audio processing room, DO NOT use a cardioid mix! A cardioid microphone picks up the neighbor's dog barking, the TV in the next room, your ceiling fan, etc. They work great in the studio but not so well for streamers in the bedroom. Audio Technia AT2005USB is what you need. Sounds good, doesn't require you to put up a sound booth to not hear your…

Better than the Blue Yeti

Most people buy the Blue Yeti because it's the most recommended microphone for live broadcasters, podcasters, and others in similar media production roles. If you're a solo streamer/content creator/musician, you don't need all Blue Yeti features. One directional pattern with good tonality is better than four directional patterns with not so good tonality. Just grab a boom to bring the mic closer to your face and that's basically all you need for podcasting, guitar solo recording and vocals…

Windows 10 low volume issues

It worked fine with Windows 8, but with Windows 10 the volume is too low (when used via the onboard USB controller). I think it's the driver. Kids used it to add music to YouTube videos but only for a month or two until I built some new Windows 10 PCs. I wanted to try it on my Macbook Pro, but even if it works well, it won't help my kids who use Win10 boxes. I also tried this on several different Windows 10 PCs and the audio recording volume was very low. There were some tips online on how to…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • No shape required

I was specifically looking for a good dynamic mic as my recording room has a lot of problems with extra sounds and is poor handled, I was originally used capacitor, and it made editing and posting a nightmare! I mainly looked at this AT2100 and Sure SM57. Mainly because of the price and flexibility, I decided to try this one and I'm glad I did. I use it to record a podcast and in truth it has also replaced my main streaming and voip mic, the preamp seems to be of good quality and the raw tone…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Concise manual

Great mic, poor standing

Used a condenser mic for a podcast. However, the workmanship in my room is just terrible, so I thought it would be cheaper to buy a good dynamic microphone. WOW! Doesn't matter! Still only picking up a tiny echo of the room, but barely noticeable. The difference in sound in a podcast is day and night. Now I use it for Zoom calls too. I was bullied a bit at first (What... are you trying to DJ?) but after a few calls I started getting questions about why my sound is so much better. I didn't like…

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • I have no negative feelings about it, it's ok

Quieter keystrokes and less ambient noise

I bought this microphone for my PC for voice chat and meetings. I was very hesitant to buy this mic and reviewed all possible options. The main issue with my previous mic was background noise - there was a lot of that. I used to have a Blue Snowball and most recently a Blue Yeti. Both microphones have multiple modes and seem to offer the best value for money. But both capture absolutely EVERYTHING - which is great if that's what you're looking for. But when I'm taking notes in a meeting, the…

Great mic for podcasting and live streaming, room to grow!

I recently got this mic because a colleague of mine was jealous of the sound quality on a podcast we do together. I've used Blue Snowball before and the sound quality was "robotic" for lack of a better word. No amount of editing has helped to eliminate this effect. My teammates in games have also complained that when I yell out loud about something exciting, it's very annoying and piercing. With the at2005usb mic, I sound like I'm right there in the room! Without distortion. No problem. The…

Never used dynamic mics

I bought this mic in December 2013. Instructions followed - plug and play, right? Nothing. Fixed all issues, contacted support service. Followed their email instructions to the letter. Again nothing. I've tried several times over the years to get this mic working in the hope that I wouldn't have to buy another mic. Searched a YouTube video for troubleshooting information. I saw reviews that said the mic worked great for the price and hoped it would eventually work. Based on online video…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

I upgraded a Plantronics wireless headset because I wanted a more "professional" quality for podcasts. I tried Blue Yeti (Blackout Edition) but it picked up too much background noise for me. I'm typing on a call and have a mechanical keyboard with Cherry Brown switches, so that didn't help. I chose this dynamic mic over the Yeti condenser mic and loved the difference. I use Audacity to fine-tune audio and add other software fixes to fix potential bugs in Windows 10 when connecting to USB mics…

The best thing for the money, Im glad I chose this option.

As such, I have not yet identified any shortcomings in this microphone (I like the sound, which is why the rating is so high). However, I have not yet had time to compare it with other models of a similar level. As a result, I am somewhat skeptical: on the one hand, the device is not cheap and you expect professional sound from it, on the other hand, it is not yet in the price segment where truly professional studio devices are located. In general, I think that some buyers have reason to fear…

Pros
  • + Sound quality; + Relative cheapness.
