Review on πŸ’» Brydge 12.9 MAX+ Wireless Keyboard Case with Trackpad for iPad Pro 12.9-inch - Silver/White by Christina Love

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Even with firmware update, trackpad causes iPad 12.9pro to freeze and hinges to break

I bought a Brydge keyboard/case for my husband in August. This is his second. There were issues with the hinges on the early versions, but he liked the case, the way the buttons responded to the large trackpad, the backlit buttons, and more. When one of the hinges broke on the first model, Brydge tech support was great and sent them a new hinge. When they failed again a few months later we decided to buy the new version as it appeared they had fixed the hinge system and it was much more reliable. The new type of loops looked like they went through the entire back. The hinges are actually a 3/4 inch metal pin in a plastic case. They don't go all the way and the right pin broke the plastic case. This may be due to the lid being folded back for viewing during use, the back of the keyboard being lifted off the table and the underside of the lid becoming a foot. There may be some strain on the keyboard when typing (?) I'll try to attach pictures. In addition, the lid cannot lie flat. (We have it now, although it's not meant to be!) Another issue is that 3-4 times a month when using the trackpad, the iPad screen freezes. There's no way to restart an iPad without removing it from the Brydge keyboard case and following the complicated restart sequence to restart the iPad... Not just the volume up/down and power keys. (This is after a new firmware update from Brydge). My husband loves so many things about the Brydge keyboard and hopefully they will address those issues. Until then, we have found a significantly better comparable product. (I recently bought a new keyboard case (a different brand) and gifted it to my husband. It works great, there are no compatibility issues, it connects without any additional software as soon as you insert the iPad, and although the trackpad is smaller, Brydge trackpad with all the features. The new case also fully covers the iPad whether or not a keyboard is plugged in. A feature I liked but didn't matter to my husband. The keyboard detaches from the case and can be put back on be attached to travel with the iPad or use as a "no case" with the Brydge iPad keyboard when removed from the keyboard I've researched enough about keyboards and most of the time I don't use them but if I like it, I don't have to look for it Both units are weight related Both units are about the same weight I hope Brydge fixes these issues We have product loyalty, but we need to move Xia forward I hope this review will help someone.
