I needed something to cover the laptop keyboard during breaks so the cat doesn't type. My boy considers himself my assistant and dutifully "protects" the keyboard by sitting on it so no one else can access my top secret work (elementary school lesson plans) when I go to change my underwear or otherwise do work avoidance . This stand mounts perfectly over the keyboard so it can still guard my work but not add my own posts. The stand is high enough to cover a keyboard on a desk and a cooling pad on a bed, but not high enough for a cat to reach the keyboard. I think it's a 17 inch laptop and the stand is wide enough to cover the entire keyboard. When I'm ready again, the stand is light enough to just move it out of the way. very happy with this decision. It can still protect my work, but I don't have to worry about it deleting anything. I'm sure the monitor will work fine too, but I didn't buy it for that purpose.
