Review on 🔧 DEPO 330-55001-000 Aftermarket Replacement Engine Cooling Fan Assembly - High-Quality Alternative by Michael Patilla

Worked great for my application.unitl but doesn't.

I am using this on a 1957 Chevrolet truck with an aluminum radiator and a 5.9 liter Dodge Magnum V8 engine. I had to modify it and make my own brackets to mount it, which I expected, but performance wise this thing does a great job of keeping the engine cool. I don't use a mechanical fan on this truck, so all airflow is handled by this fan. I currently only use the low speed side, but will be hooking up a thermal switch for the high speed side, which is also built into the AC switch. It's the same fan that the Jeep Rock Crawler guys love for the Wrangler and XJ, and it does a great job of keeping things cool. I hooked up the fan via a 40A relay activated by the ignition switch so it was on all the time much like I would expect from the car it was designed for. One afternoon I smelled nylon melting. I stopped, saw nothing and kept walking. The smell grew stronger and I stopped again, this time turning off the engine. With the key removed I saw smoke coming out of the fan motor housing. I turned off the fan and was able to drive home without it and didn't set the truck on fire. The truck held temperature well without a fan, so the controller probably would have helped it last much longer and only run when needed.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
