Review on ๐Ÿ”Š Mediabridge 12AWG Ultra Series Speaker Cable - Dual Gold Plated Spade Tips - 3 Feet Length - CL2 Rated - High Strand OFC Copper Construction - Black [New & Improved Version] by Joshua Romero

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like thick cables - SPADES

Really well made cables; at 12 AWG is excessive for the length of this cable. At 6 feet tall, 18AWG FAST can handle loads up to 4 ohms; In comparison, 12 AWG can run 60 feet into 8 ohms, 6 ohms can run 45 feet, and into a 4 ohm load it can run 30 feet. So if my calculations are correct, that's about 5 times more. Never say I don't appreciate bells and whistles (or, as Tim Allen would say, "more power"). The cable itself is flexible, looks like a quality product, all the connectors in the Y-branch are clean and properly connected. They are spade tipped and thick with a lightly serrated surface for secure contact in the 5 position roll pin. Spades offer a better electrical connection compared to banana plugs, spades, or bare/soldered wires. Will it improve the sound? No, anyone who buys discounted cables (any cables) won't be able to tell the difference. The main purpose of spade lugs, banana plugs, and pins is to connect speakers to other devices (amplifiers, etc.) easily and quickly. Now that I consider the price, they seem excellent value for money.
