I bought this to use the USB connection for a new Android Auto stereo I installed in my old car. Although he worked for a while, he often fell behind. I eventually found that if I applied enough lateral force to the male cable through the female pass-through connector, the connection would remain stable. I wrapped with a rubber band to add enough pressure to hold the contacts together. Today I removed and threw away that passage. Not sure yet if I'll try again or just dangle the stereo cable from my center console.
