This works best for me if I cut it in half and microwave for 1 minute on each side (2 minutes ttl). The ONLY thing missing here is that the velcro is placed at the end of one side of the lining on the back (if you're using it as a back lining). The long Velcro strap is difficult to attach to the sewn-on Velcro tab. If I had to design this heating pad I would add 3-4 inches to the width of the pad itself to make it easier to apply without having to reach for it. behind and beside my back. Aside from that one issue, the pad works great. It smells funny when the pad is in the microwave. Oh, and it's too bad it's not flavored or anything. The price is right and yes I would recommend it.
