Lots of breakage
These brushes are serviceable. That means they will do their job. But don't expect them to last long or withstand harsh brush strokes. I like them but have used them about twice and each time there is some hair/fur loss. Lonely. Time. I've tried fluffing them up several times, as well as other brush prep methods to avoid this problem, but to no avail. They work if you just need a sumi-e brush for a one-off watercolor painting, but I can't recommend this set for long. use of the term.
